Clarks Thread Mills Paisley

Built in 1886 at Seedhill of red brick with a stone balustrade it is adjacent to The Hamills a waterfall on the White Cart Water which flows north through the town centre. After production stopped in 1993 the mill was converted to quality apartments retaining the great naturally lit central well which offers a superb exhibition space such as for the Scottish Tapestry last year
In their heyday from 1880s to 1960s Clarks and Coats thread mills employed 30000 people in the town and had international importance
