A Day of Football and Booze
Today was a big day for just about all of my guy mates in Edinburgh. The Hearts v Hibs Scottish Cup Final was on so the pub filled up pretty quickly. As only a few of the guys could get tickets they decided no one would go and they would spend the day together in the pub watching the game, drinking and either celebrating or commiserating together. The majority of the boys are Hearts fans and the pub was pretty much filler with Jambos with only a handful of Hibs fans in. What an atmosphere!! The game was tense with half time showing to 2-1 lead to Hearts. The second half started and the game ended due to a penalty to Hearts, that wasn't, a hib player being sent off and then another very quick goal for Hearts. The final score was 5-1.
The second match of the day I missed but West Ham v Blackpool in the Championship play-off. West Ham won.
The final game of the day was Chelsea v Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final. Even I got extremely involved with it. It was such a tense game. My fiancé Bruce is a Chelsea fan and the last time they were in this situation it was against Man-U and they lost on penalties. Once again Chelsea put their fans through the ringer with it being 0-0 until the 83rd when Bayern scored. We thought it was all over...then Drogba scored in the 88th minute and then extra time ensued with it ending scoreless. Penalties. Germans are notoriously good at taking penalties, the tension in the pub was like nothing I've ever seen. Though only two Chelsea fans were present everyone else was backing them up and shouting for them. What a penalty shoot-out!! Chelsea one which lead to Bruce being the happiest I have ever seen him....ever.
What night it was filled with happy people all round and lots of drink. A day that will not be forgotten for a long long time. This is a picture of Bruce and Gogs, the two true Chelsea fans in the pub, looking very drunk and extremely happy!
