House Finch Party

Two male house finches, not to be confused with purple finches which look very similar, were eating seed under the feeder today. I had to look these guys up in my Peterson Field Guide to determine exactly what kind of birds they were before I decided they were house finches.

It was a veritable "house party" at the feeder today. We had red-winged blackbirds, white winged doves, sparrows, and house finches all feeding on the ground below the feeder at the same time. Heck, at one point I looked up and saw a rabbit hop through the yard. This was all shortly after I filled the feeder so somebody, not mentioning any names Mr. Finch, must have told the neighborhood It Ain't Nothin But a Party at the Jordan's today.

It reminded me of my favorite J. Geils song - House Party!
