How to transfer flame from one nomadic camp site to the next? 

Collect a few dead man's fingers, dry them. Touch a burning ember to the DMF and blow gently on the contact area. The DMF will start to glow, keep blowing until there is a definite red patch, repeat the process with two or three other pieces. Place in a small metal receptacle. Carry to next site. 

All a bit redundant these days, or is it? If you are ever stuck in a desert or jungle without a means of carrying flame then this still works, it means you can light a fire by which you or your progress can be measured and found.

Or simply teach a child and see the wonder in their eyes when they realise the old phart still has a few tricks up his/her sleeves.
