Deceptive...
Headed into Bath late this morning for a second, and successful, attempt to see 'A Testament of Youth' at the cinema. (Highly recommended!) On our way to the cinema, we had to dodge a torrential hail storm, but three hours later, we came out to clear blue skies! As always, the sunshine brought the Bath Stone buildings to life, including The Holburne Museum. But it was deceptive sunshine that did nothing to counteract the bitter wind, it was perishing!!
The Holborne Museum's grand façade and impressive gardens provide an inkling of its grandeur and history. The Grade 1 listed building was originally designed and constructed as a hotel, opening in 1799, but since 1916 has been home to Bath's first public art gallery, housing the collection of Sir William Holburne. As well as a wonderful collection of fine and decorative arts, it has a great café for coffee and cake!!
