The A83 in the snow.

I stopped to take this photo on my way home from my failed attempt to get to the camera club in Lochgilphead this evening.

Many sections of the road were much worse than this yet I passed the first snow plough just a few minutes after I had taken this shot. This was too late for the people who had crashed on a bend just outside Lochgair village.

Surely it makes better sense to send out a gritter/plough at the first sign of the weather closing in rather than have to send out two Police cars and paramedics to pick up the pieces from a road accident later on.
This is an A road....what is going on?
Am I the only person who gets it?
