Or so asked the citizens of New York as the snow hit Boston instead and all the precautions seemed overkill.

Today we anticipated snow across the central belt but apart form a flurry or two in Edinburgh there was nothing other than snow on the hills as I headed to and from Glasgow for a meeting with partners from the reporters and social work. Lots of detailed constructive discussion.

Tonight some snow has fallen. The early flowering rhoddy at the gate - in bloom since December - has had a bit of a shock! And it is now freezing and more snow forecast. So I'll hold off on the New Yorkers' phrase meantime.
