Yellow thing

I'm certain that SooB would be able to tell me what type of plant/flower/bush this is, but I haven't got a clue. All I know is that the brave little yellow bud was about the only non-monochromatic thing I saw on my walk this morning.

We'd a couple of inches of snow overnight. Just enough to be treacherous without being enough to justify staying home from work, drinking hot chocolate all day. 

But the good news is that I didn't have to take a picture of a depressed 13-year-old this morning. Despite the snow, his mum was able to drop him to school at 5am to catch his coach to the airport. I helpfully stayed out of their way while all that was going on.
