Portable Office

Today Bob's school had a required orientation for parents. It was a great annoyance to me for two reasons.

1) Bob's class is 2.5 hours long. But the orientation was for just 30 minutes 1.5 hours in to the class period. So I had to drop Bob off, hang out somewhere that was not the school for an hour and a half. Then go to the orientation & hang out somewhere that wasn't the school for 30 minutes. They even had the parents wait outside in the rain until all the kids were in gym so as not to upset the kids.

2) Everything they said was written in their handout. So why did I have to kill lots of time for this?

Well, I guess I cannot complain too much. My friend's house is nearby. Since it was mild day, I sat on her porch with my computer, cell phone, and cellular modem and was able to get some work done. At least until the leaf blowers arrived.

The portability of my business is one of its great advantages. Although I wish I had an iPhone sometimes to check the status of things on the internet rather than lugging my computer everywhere.
