In the ghetto...
Drove to the suburbs today to pick up my watch (2 links removed). Stopped into Whole Market I think it's called, basically like Whole Foods, but a little different - I like this place a lot.
Installed a program on my dad's laptop and talked to him for a bit and then drove back to work.
On the way back I decided to take Cicero since it's been awhile since I've driven this hood (literally, the hood). The ghetto really is a blip's dream, there are so many things to photograph, but of course you have to be quick, very quick. I even drove down a side street where it's well known that drug dealers just stand off to the side and people pull up (much like a drive thru) and buy their drugs. I'm not sure it's the wisest idea to snap a photo of these guys, but I thought I could be stealth and quick (and not stop!), but there was only one of them out there today and he frankly wasn't that interesting (also didn't really want to take a picture of a 13 year old kid selling heroin on the side of the street).
Google Maps streetview found the shot I was looking for though. Just spin the street view camera around and see the two guys outside the boarded up house - those are them! Kind of funny that one of the google cars is driving by drug dealers...
My blip is of a Brach's candy factory that closed years ago. Now it's just where bums and junkies reside for the most part. However, part of the Batman Dark Knight movie was actually filmed here (I'm not sure if they used the footage, they made this dumpy building look like a hospital and they flew in by helicopter the important actors even though this is just a few miles from downtown Chicago - obviously safety was a concern).
These were my rejects
Reject #1 - Accidentally took this, but I like it.
Reject #2 - Some territorial tagging on a door. You can see that someone took a hammer or some blunt object in attempt to break down the door.
Reject #3 - Intersection of Lake & Cicero
