Willow-leaved Hebe
There are over 100 species of Hebe native to New Zealand and most of them are endemic. They seem to be found only in certain regions, this one is found in lowland and lower montane shrublands, streamsides, and forest margins on South Island and Stewart Island apart from the Marlborough Sounds. The flowers are white and occasionally slightly mauve on long drooping racemes. It is a native to New Zealand.
Scientific name: Hebe salicifolia
Maori names: Koromiko, Kororomuka
Common name: Willow-leaved Hebe
I thought I was going to have a day at home but instead I ended up in Christchurch helping Daughter E to decide on curtains. It was lovely to have some time together, a chat over lunch and a cuppa and then on the way home I called into a local park where I found this hebe in flower.
It's been very humid and overcast, the clouds quite ominous as they hovered above getting thick and heavy but unfortunately there's been no rain.
Enjoy the weekend everyone - maybe we'll have rain :)
