Pub No 11 1/2

Once again I am calling this a half pub, because the main entrance is in Castle Street although there is an entrance in Rose Street.

It would appear to me after this tour of Rose Street pubs, is to call the builders and make an entrance from Rose Street and catch the Rose Street trade as well.

Until 2009 the Amber Rose was known as the Hogshead. I am not clear whether the change of name was driven by a desire to fit into the Rose Street environment more closely, but it seems to have been accompanied by a darkening of the interior woodwork and slight lowering of the levels of illumination.
