Auchtubhmor

This is the wee cluster of houses that make up Auchtubhmor. The big house to the right is the original farmhouse which judging by the amount of earthworks, abandoned tracks and stonewalls in the immediate area must be the centre of a very old and considerably larger settlement. The abandoned village of Edinchip is about 15 mins walk away and I imagine it's just fortuitous and proximity to the glen road that has kept this area populated. The house to the left is the other half of the converted steading for the farmhouse similar to mine. The track runs on for another 200 metres to Shepherd's cottage, a 1980s build, and above to the left is another modern house. It's interesting how the core group is built into the natural sheltered spot on the hillside, only being vulnerable to that rare thing, a southerly gale.
