Eye Catcher

Woke to light rain this morning, but hardly enough to do the farmers any good. It is still very dry on the land.
By mid-morning it had well and truly stopped so for a change of scene I went over to Tahuna Torea Reserve and explored Glendowie Spit and Point England Bird Sanctuary. It was low tide so was able to walk right out to the end of the spit till there was only the narrow channel separating me from Bucklands Beach. An eerie feeling, out in the middle of the harbour surrounded by water on 3 sides. Usual range of coastal bird species including the New Zealand dotterel, the subject of this innovative protection sign.
