Travelling Post Office
I had a ride over to the Great Central Railway this afternoon as they were having their Winter Steam Gala, with the promise of lots of engines in steam, freight trains and also demonstrations of the Travelling Post Office which involves the train running through the station at speed and catching a bag from a trackside post while ejecting the mail to be delivered into a large net at the side of the track.
It was pretty spectacular as the train is running at quite a high speed, and today there was lots of steam and smoke coming from the loco. It was pretty grey and bitterly cold as there was quite a brisk breeze blowing across the field were I was stood.
This picture is of Dinmore Manor which as a guest locomotive visiting for the gala and it is running past the Quorn and Woodhouse signal box just before delivering the mail.
MANY THANKS FOR ALL THE NICE COMMENTS AND STARS ON YESTERDAY'S SNOWY TREE PICTURE. THEY ARE ALL APPRECIATED.
