Out for a walk again
Never mind the weather, what's a bit of wind and rain. Out again round Ockham Common up by the mausoleum that was once connected to the nearby Hatchford Park. When it was built it apparently had a copper dome. The construction was built to contain the remains of Sir Bernard Samuelson and his family who lived at the nearby house. Samuelson outlived his wife Caroline and daughter Florence who were both buried there prior to his death. The mausoleum now sits outside of the grounds in which Hatchford Park sits. This has meant the building has sadly been vandalised with graffiti and other damage, including the removal of the the copper cladding. Unsurprisingly the vault beneath is now empty.
A real shame this has been treated this way given the unique nature and position of this structure.
