Not the man from Mars - I used to know a salesman that did have that claim to fame - no, it's the Inverness Provost. He was judging the fancy dress entries to the River Ness Raft Race, at the Bught Park, before they took to the water. Here he's with the Leonard Cheshire team.

The event is organised by/for the charity, Children First. I was there with some other kayakers, to provide some safety cover for the participants on and in the water. No rescues required this year, save for hundreds of wee yellow ducks. They were released to drift down after the last of the rafts. All numbered, and the first few to reach the line, win their £1 sponsors prizes. The river level was high, so the event went a fair bit faster than normal.

Extra - the old river boat, filled up with collected yellow ducks. Note to self: don't get out of the boat when it's full of these ducklings, and you're on the wrong side of the river, as you won't be able to get back in...
