Not carbonara

This is spaghetti in a cream sauce with smoked bacon and chestnut mushrooms and Parmesan sprinkled on top. It is not carbonara.

It took many months of debating with Al before I conceded that one. I recall arguing that my version could be carbonara for people with an egg allergy but he was having none of it! To be honest though I always intended to concede to him after he'd actually made me his carbonara - and that happened over a year ago now. However, I don't think I will ever make proper carbonara like he does. The one in this photo will do me.

"What are you having for tea tonight?"
