Rotorua
We've had quite a rainy day today. It rained in the morning at Whangamata but it wasn't too bad on the trip up from Coromandel, just intermittent light showers. We didn't even get a coffee stop, lots of places seem to close on a Sunday. Good for them, Kiwis enjoy their weekends.
Once we got to Rotorua the heavens opened and it wasn't until about 4 o'clock that we were able to get out for a walk round Government Gardens and look at the many sculptures, monuments and buildings.
Rotorua doesn't pong as much as I thought it would. You can certainly tell you're in the presence of sulphur but it doesn't seem like rotten eggs as some people describe it.
We're in a big hotel again. After the lovely cosy B&B that we've enjoyed the last two nights it's a bit of a culture shock and also has the annoyance of poor and expensive internet (why do they do that?). We're only here for the one night and then Taupo tomorrow.
Hope you're weekend's going well.
David
