Stepping back in time
To George Street Luton circa 1950. If only it were possible - that said, I'm sure some of the shine that we put on these memories would be dulled by the reality of life in these times. Nostalgia - it's a funny thing. Doesn't pay to long for the past - appreciate it for what it was, but live for now and for the future over which you have some degree of influence.
The car to the right of the chap in the picture, a Hudson or so I am told was owned by a chap in Bolton Road. A young lad apparently got into it one day and let off the handbrake with the inevitable consequences. No doubt he was thrashed to within an inch of his life - that wouldn't happen today.
Dinner with Sue and Andrew tonight. Andrew is cooking one of his two signature dishes, lamb shank in Guinness - I hope he boils the alcohol off!.
