Ashdown Forest
Drove through the delightful Ashdown Forest today and thought I'd blip from one of the highest points of the area. It was bleak, cold and windy but this is on the edge of the Hundred Acre Wood depicted in AA Milne's delightful Winnie the Pooh. It's not far from Piglet's House or the Six Pine trees. Sadly the place where they used to play Pooh Sticks, and where I took my children 30 years ago, is quite unrecognisable as all trees and bushes have been stripped bare to provide generations of youngsters the sticks needed to race on the stream which goes under the bridge.
Cold as it was up, there an ice cream van was doing a roaring trade!
