In the forest

This afternoon we walked up through what we used to call the forest above our house.   It will shortly be two years since it was cut  (longer since the track was upgraded to prepare for felling) and work has recently started on ditching and draining , presumably in preparation for re-planting.

The trees that were left are flourishing but today  everything looked bare  and wintry.
