A bright but cold winter's afternoon. We went to Dunaverty at Southend but this time, instead of going along the beach, we went up the hill just to the east of Dunaverty Rock. A MacDonald castle stood here until 1647, when it was besieged and the garrison of 300 men was massacred on their surrender. It was our first time ever on this hill, oddly enough, and Charlie really enjoyed it.
