Super Chili Bowl
Clanger is just waiting for the Superbowl to start. I had a pretty quiet day today, after wandering the shops yesterday my hip was nagging me and I didn't get to sleep until pretty late (early morning).
I didn't go to the Stockbridge Market this Sunday as I'd been to the Farmers Market yesterday so I just popped across the road to my local Sainsbury's to pick up a few things to make chili for the Superbowl.
Nothing particularly out of the ordinary in the chilli, minced beef, red onion, red pepper, a red and a green chilli, red kidney beans, a couple cloves of garlic, chili powder, cayenne powder, cumin, paprika, some FRESH coriander, a carton of chopped tomatoes, a couple bits of strong (70% cocoa) chocolate and a few slugs of Seggie Porter. I browned the mince first in some chili oil and then mixed in all the other ingredients and let it simmer for a couple hours. I then took some diced venison quickly sealed it in a frying pan with chili oil and then added it to the chili to simmer a little longer. It was pretty good, not fantastic but worked well with some nachos and cheese and some extra thick Scottish double cream!
So it's probably going to be a late night if I stay to the end of the Superbowl, which usually finishes well after 4am :-( I'm not a big American football fan but I do try and watch the Superbowl each year. I'll be supporting the New England Patriots this year as I spent two fantastic summers in Massachusetts and loved it. I've also briefly visited Seattle and was not overly impressed. I got into Seattle airport rather late as I was delayed in Detroit airport by a hurricane so I stayed overnight in a motel near the airport and went to a nearby bar for a drink which turned out to be a "strip bar"! I spent the next day in Seattle before moving on so to be fair I didn't get to see much of the city.
So "Come on Patriots!"
