Husband's birthday cake (part one)

First born (age 3) loves to cook and wanted to make Daddy a cake for his birthday.  Once everything was set up, second born (age 16 months) thought it looked like fun and wanted to join in - I should have left more time for them to 'help'.  This is the kitchen table once it had been mostly wiped, the cake had been baked and we were hoping to decorate... we ran out of time so I fear an earlier than usual start tomorrow morning.
