Golden Fields
Another hot morning but round noon all changed. Clouds rolled on through, the temperature dropped to 16C, a strong wind picked up and......unfortunately it didn't rain. The remainder of the day has stay cooler with dark grey clouds.
A common sight round North Canterbury are the paddocks of wheat nearly ready for harvest. Farmers are describing the wheat this year as being 'skinny' due to the lack to water.
It is the driest summer ever recorded for all parts of New Zealand, some areas not having rain since November. With the dry weather comes the risk of fire which is now very high or extreme.
The nights are long and humid, I found myself drifting off to sleep just as the sun was rising round 6am, to say the least I'm feeling tired and a little grumpy today - should be cooler tonight, I hope.
E arrived bright and early with all of her belongings, she'll enjoy sorting out our outside room and making it her own for a while.
A busy and productive day - Happy Tuesday everyone :)
