Whodunnit??

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I present the facts to you.
Mr Scott, the houseowner, left the building this morning after breakfast to fill up the coal buckets.
Upon returning, he found this empty margarine tub, exhibit A, lying on the ground, its contents having been removed. It had been half full when he left the room.
The two accused were the only living creatures in the building at the time of the offence.
The evidence may be circumstantial but overwhelming nevertheless.
I put it to you that it was a joint effort. Joe, the spaniel, climbed onto the table and pushed the tub to  the floor allowing Lucy, the beagle, to eat all the contents.
The only other possible explanation is that it was a "one dog job" involving Lucy reaching up to the table, bringing the tub down for her to consume.
The photographic evidence above does however indicate the involvement of Joe.
I have no doubt that they are both guilty and I hope you will return the correct verdict."
