Heaton Park

I had to go into Manchester this morning to see the dentist;  just routine but they were running late so it sent my finely planned schedule awry.  Anyway on the way back to the motorway I saw a sign for Heaton Park & Hall, and I must confess my ignorance in that I'd never hear of either, but I decided to take a detour and go have a look.

I have since learnt that the park covers an area of over 600 acres, is the biggest municipal park in Manchester, and one of the largest in Europe, and includes the grounds of a neoclassical 18th century house (Heaton Hall)

In the time I had I didn't see overmuch, but it's now on my ever growing list of  places to explore.
