Say Hello To Vojin

Vojin is a former work colleague from my Reynard days. He was predominantly based in the US. My trip to America, and quite literally driving past the door of where he works gave an excellent opportunity to pop by and somewhat briefly catch up with him.

He gave me a quick tour of the NASCAR team that he works for. an impressive set-up. Roundy roundy racing with 1.5 ton steel cars maybe, but the detail and sheer amount of work to support a 38 race championship is very impressive. Its easy for us Europeans to be dismissive of it, but when you realise that title sponsors on cars include washing powder, breakfast cereals, and fast food chains, it goes to show that this is a sport that connects with its fans, and its fans are across all ages and sexes. Formula 1 may be a pinnacle in some form, but NASCAR has genuine mass appeal, and it is massive in many parts of the states.

Thanks Vojin for the tour, and it was great to see you again, after what must be 15~16 years!
