Carnival in Hamburg!

When we were touring in the streets of Hamburg we came across a parade. At first we thought it was something about fashnacht tradition but later when I asked one of the women there she answered that they had canals and bridges in Hamburg like Venice and Venice had a carnival. So Hamburg should have a carnaval like Venice and she said they were trying to make it traditional.
