Unexpected Delays

I was leaving the apartment this morning for work, went down to the basement, got in the car and drove around the corner to the junction with the Boulevard just about on time to get to work.
I had just missed the signal and was the first car waiting in line when I noticed a police car at the side of the junction. Before the lights turned green again the police car blocked off the road and I spent the next 20 minutes waiting as various police motorbikes went past and all traffic on the Boulevard was stopped. Just when I was really wondering what was going on these cyclists above all rode past.
The Dubai Tour actually started today and this is something to do with that. Mark Cavendish may be one of the people in the green Jerseys although I'm pretty sure some of them are not professionals - carrying a bit too much timber, much like myself at the moment.
After seeing them go by I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to go around the Boulevard, do a u-turn and come back past in the other direction.
Needless to say I was late for work, although thanks to blip I do have photographic evidence of why.
