who calls himself a "horn-worker" -- I thought he was referring to musical instrument repair -- but he explained that he fashions fanciful birds from cow horns. 

I've been intrigued by the exterior of his tiny repair shop - the side door is hidden behind rows of broken appliances - and the front windows are filled with all sorts of objects from nature, including geodes, carved wooden bracelets, steer horns and so much more.

This was the first time I had the pleasure of meeting the proprietor - usually the accordion gates are lowered so I just snoop around the outside.
