The Free Church of Scotland..

..just realised this is my biannual blip, and it's not very special.

Went round to B's again today with a new router. It now looks as if the problem lies with the phone line, and not the router. There are at least two other houses without phones, and have been without since the storms at the beginning of January. Further on from B's, you can see the roof in this shot, is the Free Church. Still in use every Sunday, bt could do with a bit of TLC.

The high rock, the cliff to the right, is 200 feet high. At it's base is a circular walled area, which it's said, was the plaace of worship for the people of Eddrachillis after the 1843 disruption of the Church of Scotland. It is said this site was chosen because someone could stand lookout on top of the cliff for any untoward people approaching.

Scourie has three other Churches, two with their own buildings, and one that uses a room in the Village Hall.

At the end of the track, just visible behind the trees is the Crofters shed, where shared implements are stored. Also the sheep fank where sheep are gathered from the common grazings.

Assynt is in the distance across the sea..

A dull day, and I've been updating the Scourie web-site for most of the day. Nice to get out for a breath of air to take this hot..
