Great-crested grebe

Wednesday
Another sunny but cold day - the wind was biting cold. Late morning I went to work out at the gym, then back home for a quick bit of lunch, before going out grocery shopping, stopping by the river in Héricy on the way. Most of the usual birds - swans, Canada geese, mallards and a few coots - were out of the water, since a mother and her young daughter had arrived shortly before I did, with a bag of bread. However, I was pleased to see the grebe bobbing about on the water, the surface of which was quite ruffled by the wind. I've never had a good picture of a grebe before - they've always been too far away - and whilst the focus isn't as sharp as I would like, I was quite pleased with this one.
