New day - new beginnings

Checkpoint

Well not any more, but for a long time the USA had a naval air base at Keflavík airport, and everybody who travelled to or from Iceland had to go through that security gate. You can read more about this here, if you're interested. The US defensive force left Iceland in 2006, and the area earlier occupied by the army is now flourishing again. There are apartment buildings, schools, many companies etc. Our son lives there with his girlfriend, and after a visit to my mother in Keflavík, we went to see Freyja (my daughter in law) and their dog Bjarmi, but my son was working so we didn't meet him this time around.
In the evening we had a dinner invitation to my husband's brother Hjörtur, and his wife Guðbjörg, so that was very nice.
