Today's Toast to "the big moment"

OK,  I see we needed a “now” to go with the “then”.  We were out to lunch today with an old friend so he kindly took this ‘sort of a” replica (?) of us at our wedding rehearsal dinner with a champagne glass in hand.  (Only today it was sparkling water at 1PM! - and there was no baked potato. Quinoa and sweet potato fritters and salad for me, and Kale/beet salad for him.)

Now I wish that I had been more careful then with labels and dates on pictures and maybe a bit of a journal to go with them as the memory can’t dredge it all up anymore.   But we do remember different things.
  
We were just kids when we got married, we hardly knew each other well.  It was almost a year before H was able to tell me that he really did NOT like oatmeal every morning and he especially hated us coming home at night to deal with the pan in the sink.  Communication got better after that!  That “chemical spark” that hit us in February 52 years ago has not gone away, but love takes on new forms.  We assumed we would live happily ever after…. it’s true...  Having all those shared memories of the easy times and the hard times and watching our family grow is a great joy and still we are surprised when we occasionally think the same thing at the same time…

I do wish he could cook.:-)
