Dawn of a new Day
My blip was taken early today, just after 8 am in fact. I was taking two of my grandchildren to school and was watching the sun rising, from my car window. With a few minutes to spare I drove to Pontypool and found a vantage point on Broadway and this is what I captured.
Today in Abersychan we remember the Llanerch Colliery Mining Disaster which occurred on 6 February 1890. A gas explosion killed 176 men and boys who had worked hard, trying to earn enough money to feed their families, in very poor conditions.
Long gone but not forgotten.
