' ... moss grows fat on a rollin' stone ...'

Around the corner from my place in the centre of England is this ancient village street. These stone walls are hundreds of years old and at this time of year the mosses and lichens are at their greenest.

It put me in mind of that great classic 'American Pie', written and sung by Don McLean; his lyrics refer to moss growing fat on a rolling stone (as well as the line 'February made me shiver ..')
