Lions, Lambs and Ships

Despite Farnham being a fair way from the sea, it boasts not one but two ship weather veins in the town centre.  This one is atop a building within the Lion and Lamb yard (so called because of a wooden statue of a lion and lamb - a favourite of the local children).

I had a quick google as to whether the ships had any specific relevance but nothing was obvious.
