Is it a comet?

Well, not actually. If you've been following my journal, you will immediately spot that it's witch hazel. It's only recently started flowering in the garden at work, over a month later than the witch hazel round the corner from my home. And there are two coppery-orange witch hazels which haven't even come into bud yet.

It was a glorious day today, sunny and still, it felt like spring. We sat out at lunchtime for the first time this year. There was a great deal going on in the garden, with foundations being laid for a new terrace garden outside the summerhouse. Everyone involved was having a whale of a time - you see such a result for your exertions. I found a number of pressing reasons to go out and consult someone about something that would have perfectly well waited if it had been pouring with rain...
