Knitting Bee
You may remember seeing the purple knitted squares awhile back; our group is making a quilt for a friend who faces a long medical journey. Today we gathered to sew the parts together: a dozen women with big-eyed needles sitting around a comfortable table, laughing and talking, drinking tea and actually making this happen! We got the thirty squares sewn together in a couple hours, and then C began the process of crocheting a border around the edge. That finishing touch is a one-person operation, but she works fast and I'm sure it will be finished soon. The absolutely amazing thing is that this motley arrangement of squares, unorchestrated and random, came together pretty quickly in a wonderful concoction of love and friendship. I'm kind of in awe of us at the moment.
