More Exciting Than It Appears
At first glance, this might look like the view from the driver's seat of my car. It's that and more, though, because you're looking through my brand new windshield. My car is almost 16 years old and while I didn't have any cracks in the windshield, it was showing its age and I need all the help I can get, especially driving at night. So, now I have sparkling new glass to look through and it almost makes me feel like I'm driving a much younger car,
The little guy sitting on the on the dash looking smug is Hugh. Hugh is a Yorkshire sheep, purchased in Haworth and has been with me for many years. He used to have a lovely black nose, but the sun has faded it to grey. He's wearing a bracelet made of plastic beads, certainly of no monetary value, but one of my most treasured possessions. My husband made it for me when he was well into his final years battling Alzheimer's and spent some time at the University of Washington medical center undergoing some testing where art and craft projects were part of the evaluation process. I remember so clearly the day he proudly gave that bracelet to me as if it had been made of diamonds.
It never ceases to amaze me what things become important after you lose someone you love. I would never gave guessed that such a simple thing would become so significant.
