Agra
Or the Taj Mahal to be more specific. I did say normal service would resume, well not quite, the office insisted on arranging a trip to Agra for us to see the palace (or to be more accurate the mausoleum) and the red fort. It also gave us a really good chance to see more of rural India. We did see a lot, 4 1/2 hours on the way there and 6 hours on the way back.
The guide really bright it to life, telling all the stories of the craftsmen, the Moguls and the architecture. However I did have to spend much of the day saying sorry, much the the amusement of my US colleagues.....as the guide would explain "this was made of gold and adorned with precious stones.....until the British came, it's just brass now" and then a long look in my direction.
He did admit we managed to do a couple of good things, opening the Taj Mahal to the public, the universities and of course cricket!
