She ain't no flamin' granny!
She's Doris from Trowbridge who carried the torch through Shepton Mallet this morning.
Picture is courtesy of Mr G, who kindly offered to step in to take my blip for today.
(Some of us have to work you know!)
I had a look through the snaps he took and it looks like it was very busy and very exciting to be there.
Wish I had been.
This is the blurb from the website about Doris.
Mrs Doris Whiting is 91 years old, and is a widley loved and respected member of the Trowbridge community, having spent her life in service in many different ways. (in fact, this was recognised by the award of the MBE in 2008)
She ran the local Brownies for 32 years. She worked for Age Concern for 20 years, and for Meals on Wheels for 17 years. She worked in the office of the Community Guild, and she ran a youth club with the then vicar, Graham Jack. She ran the 60+ group for many years, and she helped with the Sunday Club for the elderly in the Civic Hall. She was a Sunday School teacher, and, for 15 years, the verger in the parish church, retiring only this year.
