The thing I remember most about that day was the church service. I had not expected it to be so important - the words were just the ones out of the book. But there was something about the ritual and the ceremony. I was struck by the very real change that was taking place. I remember the emotion was tangible. It was important, this thing we entered into - and prior to that moment I would have argued that it was just a piece of paper.
It was difficult to find a picture... the church was very dark and my dress was very white. I don't want to use the photos from the official photographer because I can't remember who owns them. These were taken by my sister-in-law (she wasn't yet.)
My mother made the dress, a true labor of love.
