Gale Force Nun

I arrived at Phillip Jackson's studio near Midhurst this afternoon, just as a new sculpture was arriving and being worked on. She is the latest edition of Gale Force Nun, in bronze, 74" tall. Love the elegance and sense of movement in her skirts. Her belt is gold, otherwise the colour is neutral.

In the background, Serenissima meaning serene, and is based on 18thC Venetian figures. The grace ,which is a trademark in his sculptures, is evident here too, but these taller figures - 98" high - have a way of letting you know you are being looked at.
