The Church of the Crooked Spire

Had a day down in Nottingham today - and, on the way home, changed trains at Chesterfield ...

... managed to catch this hasty snap of the famous "St Mary and All Saints Church" (of the Crooked Spire)!

So - here's a short verse written about it, in 1822:


The Church of the Crooked Spire

Its ponderous steeple, pillared in the sky
Rises with twist in pyramidal form,
And threatens danger to the timid eye
That climbs in wonder.
