Red Grouse
We set out this morning to go in search of mountain hares in the far NW of the Peak District. We walked up to Chew Reservoir, until 1971 England's highest reservoir, at the top we arrived in beautiful sunshine and blue sky. However within a few minutes the cloud moved in and spoiled photo opportunities. Whilst mountain hares were illusive in the cover of deep snow we did see plenty of grouse, albeit in the haze.
Before the fog arrived not far from the car park I also captured a kestrel sitting in a frosty tree, on any other day it would have been my auto choice, but I'm not wasting that walk to the top ! the kestrel can be seen here
