Storks nesting in the minaret at Chellah

Hundreds of storks nest in the ruins of the Chellah necropolis, site also of the ruins of the once prosperous Roman city of Sala Colonia, fallen into ruin by the 10th century.

This minaret was once part of the zaouia of Chellah, a religious institution that functioned as mosque,  center of learning and hostel for pilrims and students, built in the 14th century by Abou el-Hassan.
