My inability to cycle anywhere without sufficient tools/cable ties to repair/bodge most common mis-haps means that my pliers and multi-tool live in my pannier, which means that I didn't have them when I could have used them to restore the circlip to the end of the axle on the buggy wheel. However, amongst the bits of crap I rarely need in my camera bag were a bit of string from my compass and the bit of bungee used to stabilise the bag when cycling, which held the wheels together (albeit unrollably) to stop the bits falling out and getting lost for long enough to walk the second mile to Porty with the front wheel up in the air.
